Military Fraternity Adopts WPACES

While many schools rang in the new school year by the sound of the bell, a military fraternity sounded the charge to announce it has adopted one of Philadelphia’s oldest charter schools.

The “Mighty Mentors” of the Mu Beta Phi Military Fraternity Inc. stood in formation as they welcomed the grades K-5 scholars of the West Philadelphia Achievement Charter Elementary School (WPACES) with high-fives and encouraging words.

“Mu Beta Phi’s Mighty Mentors adopted WPACES to provide its students sound mentorship and to show them the value of staying on the right track,” Mu Beta Phi Military Fraternity Inc. Royal Court Gamma President Jason “Freeway” Williams said.

WPACES CEO Dr. Stacy Gill-Phillips said that the military fraternity has also offered to participate in various other activities such as sponsoring a backpack giveaway and reading to groups of children.

“We are grateful to the participating Mu Beta Phi Military Fraternity Inc. members for their outpouring of care and support for our students,” Gill-Phillips said. “There is no question that the mentorship these gentlemen will provide this year will have a positive lifelong impact on our students.”
